   Can the "Display by Catalog" loop (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/38046) be additionally hacked so that:

   1. ONLY the latest post (one single post) per category is displayed.

   2. The categories always appear in a specific order (say, by cat ID)

   Note: Display by Category - not "Catalog".

   And sorry about the closed original thread, it seems to be a technical glitch, since nobody ever closed it.

   Thanks moshu for the suggestion, but, alas, the plugin doesn't resolve the problems.

   (I'm really surprised that folks have not wanted either of these options - either to order categories in a static order on the front page; or to display only the most recent post from each category.)
