   Im wondering if anyone would kindly help. The lack of support from the volunteers here is terrible, sorry and I really do mean I am sorry but I have posted 6 posts in the space of 3 months to try and get help on 3 subjects and I never get a reply. Heres my latest two below.

   WordPress need more helpers, more volunteers or to spend the money on at least one support member trawling through the forums answering questions. What is with the lack of support?!

   Can anyone help? Please I beg you.....?

   Currently above every page except the first page I get
   /* Template Name: Page Tmeplate Name */

   Is there anyway to turn this off. I have researched it and as before there is something in the header to delete, which has been deleted but it is still there. I have a wordpress site with a lot of static pages, maybe the reason it doesnt show in the first page.

   I am having trouble with archives on the right of my news page. When clicked they display a mess.

   1) Where do these go, which template do news archives display in?
   2) How do I get them to display just the news?

   Give me a link to the page that has these problems. And then just tell it what to remove. Ok? I look forward to :-)

   Its not just that page but the rest need the top left bit of text (page template name) taken off.

   If you scroll through the site you will see what the issues are on the news page and on the shop (jigoshop) page.

   Are you pitching in, and providing answers to other support topics? If not, then you have no grounds to complain.

   If you need paid support, you might be better off using wordpress.com.

   In order to answer your question, we'll need to see some code: particularly, your Theme template files. What Theme are you using?

   If it's a custom Theme, you'll need to post the relevant files into a Pastebin, and link to it here in the topic.

   It will need to edit files. Php - editor opens theme (site.com / wp-admin / theme-editor.php) and the right side in turn choose all files. In the window looking label enclosed between / * and * / and remove it. It is difficult to say what exactly a file is hidden, but I think that in header.php

   Do not be afraid to delete - just before you do something to save the contents. If something goes wrong - restore.
   If it does not - write. Another 50 minutes, I'll be here :-)

   I wonder how long it would take for someone not to answer and just to complain. Im only stating a point and we all have a right to moan. Well everyone who answers a question is a volunteer I thought?

   Yes I am, I have answered quite a few questions regarding the fact I am fairly new to wordpress. My moto is we learn, get tought and then we teach others.

   If you need paid support, you might be better off using wordpress.com.

   unless you have changed your account, you actually started more or less 15 topics in the range of about two weeks. and quite a few got replies, others were duplicates, one even is ticked off as 'resolved'....

   Currently above every page except the first page I get
   /* Template Name: Page Tmeplate Name */

   this is something that should be in a php comment at the top of a page template ( http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages#Page_Templates ) - check all your templates, start with page.php (there is a limited amount if files in theme)

   Hello Domino.

   When I do that, it deletes it from the right menu. So suddenly that template has disappeared. Doe this affect the page, it doesnt look like it does but its just that I can't edit the page now so I have to go into the ftp files and place

   back in.

   Is there a way to hide it as in something like
   

   /*
   Template Name: Page (Do Not Show)
   */

   That. Maybe a bit far fetched but could it?

    It seems, alchymyth rights - is the name of the template.
    If it can be seen, it is simply wrong registered.
    Try so - This is just copied from a standard:

    /**
    * Template Name: Page
    *
    * A custom page template without sidebar.
    *
    * The "Template Name:" bit above allows this to be selectable
    * from a dropdown menu on the edit page screen.
    *
    * @package WordPress
    * @subpackage Twenty_Ten

    you either turn this into html comments:

    <!-- Template Name: Page -->

    or use php tags around the php comments:

    ?>

    By the way, yes, again alchymyth rights - the very first line in the file must be "<?php" (without ")

    Did you fix this already? When I visited the link you provided above, I did not see any evidence of the issue you mentioned.

    If this is fixed, please update the post to indicate that it has been resolved. If not, please provide another link to a page/post displaying the problem. Thank you.

    Sorry alchymyth I missed your reply. And yes I agree your right, but if I bounce the post up with just one comment it seems to be frowned upon but how else would I get it answered.

    I strongly believe more Volunteers are needed, I hope to be one of them and I have helped others in the past on here.

    Anyway back to the topic. alchymyth that's it!! Got it. Thank you and Thank you Domino too.

    But before I leave this resolved. I still have the other question.

    Not really. We would need to see the PHP code, not the rendered HTML.

    That's because you're using a reserved template name.

    If this file is page.php, then you don't need to add a template-name header tag to the top of the file. WordPress will already recognize it, and use it by default.

    If you've created a custom page template, then you need to use a custom name, e.g. page-foo-bar.php, and then add the appropriate PHP (i.e. within PHP tags) header tags to the file, e.g.:
    

    <?php
    /**
     * Template Name: Foo Bar
     */
    ?>

    Then, you will see "Foo Bar" as an alternate Page template in the dropdown list.

    One page has been fixed, im doing the rest now. On the template file place a <?php> tage around the /* */ like so:

    <?php
    /*
    Template Name: Page
    */
    ?>

    Sorry still my other question and then I will close it. Unless you all believe I should start the new question in another new post?

    I understand but there also a great tool bar for that. The Web Developer Toolbar.

    Sorry can't really carry your answer on. Just need to get my other answers.

    Just for future reference: whatever the "Web Developer Toolbar" is, it cannot display PHP code. The only thing available publicly is the HTML rendered by the PHP parser. So, if you have a question about PHP code, you are going to have to post the PHP code. We have no other way to see it.

    This image from the Codex shows a graphical representation of which template files are used for each type of page that WordPress handles.

    Are your "News" posts categorized as "News" or are they set up as a separate post type? If you are using a category, then they will look for category-news.php first, then category-[category ID].php next, then category.php then archive.php.

    If you are using a post type, then they will look for archive-[post type].php first, then archive.php.

    Then please try it, Search it through Google. It does display PHP. :D Honestly. PHP, JAVA, CSS, HTML everything except of course Actionscript. ALso certain things may vary or be hidden on different browser versions but they all generally do the same.

    Sorry, but no. The underlying PHP templates aren't publicly accessible to the browser, so there's no way that this toolbar can see them.

    Or you could just link back to your original topic - the one you complained about having one un-answered, and have people respond there.
