I've been trying to update my blog but for the past several days each time I try to save anything I get a drop-down menu requesting a user name and password. I've tried all the user names and passwords I can think of but none seems to work. Instead I've been getting the following notification: "The user name or password you entered for area “Magic” on http://www.browde.com:80 was incorrect."
I don't know what user name it's asking for. I called my provider, 1and1, but they haven't been able to help me. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Posted 2 years ago #According to your page source, you're not using WordPress, and so no one here is giong to know anything about your user name/password notifications, so talk to 1and1 again.

bbrowde forgot to add /blog after the URL above, which is a WP blog. Curiouser is what "Magic" bbrowde is talking about. Check out Codex re ways to Reset Password

Posted 2 years ago #Now I see it. Might be that all the posts are password protected, and wordpress is ancient at 2.5.1.

Posted 2 years ago #Ok, i know it's old but I'm not all that comfortable with the upgrade process no matter how simple it's supposed to be. (I have other talents.) Password protected posts are a pain and I've been trying to unprotect them but I WP isn't letting me save changes.
