Uninstall/Reinstall (2 posts)

Wanted to switch my old webhosting from Windows to Linux php5. Had Godaddy do that, and it broke my blog. http://www.howrc.com spent three days going back and forth with support trying to troubleshoot. Finally decided to uninstall and reinstall and start over with just my posts and comments, which I was told I could do with a database back up and restore. But this did not work, and now they're telling me its a WordPress scripting problem that they can't helpme with. But my blog worked fine before the switch, it just couldn't support certain plugins I wanted to use because it wasn't php5. So it seems clear to me that Go daddy broke something in the switch, but they are INSISTING its a corrupt WordPress script in my .htaccess file.

I know nothing about any of this, so how would I go about finding a corrupt script and fixing it? Keep in mind I am COMPLETELY CSS and html illiterate. Please help!

They may be on to something there, at least it's worth a try. Try temporarily renaming the .htaccess file to htaccess (remove the dot). If that solves the problem, then we know that something is wrong with the file.
