[resolved] Unhacked site, but now images won't show up? (3 posts)

    Hello everyone,

My college news site was hacked this morning by [moderated], apparently. Not sure if he's a big deal on the internet,) and our Tech people on campus worked to get rid of the hideous "Hacked!" splashpage fairly quickly, but now we're left wit ha new problem: all our images won't show up.

They're in the gallery and when we click on a post it shows a featured image, but none of it shows up on the front or sub-pages. (Site here.) Images that were placed in articles still appear.

Has anyone else experienced this or knows how to make everything show up again? Another staff member said he can't seem to upload images either. Not sure if this is a side effect from the hack itself or the reversal of it.

Also, if anyone has suggestions on how to improve the security of the site please let me know.

    Thank you!

    Hi Sarah,

It seems the images are still in the "uploads" folder as you can see here.

But as you are using "timthumb" to crop/display the images, you need to check out if all settings for that is ok.

To improve the security, you can start with installing a plugin called "BulletProof Security" here:

    Ryan,

Thank you for your help. Somehow, the images did seem to reattach themselves to the articles overnight.

I will definitely look into that plugin for security! Thank you again!
