Has anyone tried to take a Multisite installation (using subdomains) and convert that to a single site with the subdomain content in a folder structure (or category structure)?

Any help that could point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  2. I'd probably rename the subdomain in Multisite to subdomainfoo and then make a new, manually built install, for subdomain and move everythign over via export/import.

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure I explained this properly or I'm not following you.

I have a site with a LOT of subdomains set up with WU Multisite with a lot of content in each one.

I want to combine all of them under a single domain. So if the subdomain was:

    subdomain1.domain.com

In the single site, I want the content under the subdomain1 to be in a folder like this:

    http://www.domain.com/subdomain1

    Any ideas?

    Thanks again.

  4. Oh you want EVERYTHING to be one site. Wow. Um. That would be a bit complicated/onerous.

Subdomain means subdomain.domain.com - Yes, yes, you'll be installing WordPress in public_html/subdomain on your server, but DO NOT refer to it as domain.com/subdomain, you will confuse the heck out of people ;)

In that case, I'd build out subdomain.domain.com and then one by one import all your other sites.

If I move the posts that are in the subdomain name, into a category of the same name as the subdomain, when I export/import this, will the category structure I set import into a clean installation? Does that make sense?

Thank you very much for your help.

  6. Yes, you keep your categories when you import. And tags :)
