• i could cry. i’ve avoided upgrading too long i know but it’s because of this kind of frustration that had me spooked.

i’ve talked to my isp, cleared my cache, set permissions to 777, even made a special upload folder on my desktop and still i get this error message when i try to upload:

The uploaded file could not be moved to /Library/WebServer/WebSites/lmertins/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009/09.

it’s been over a week and i haven’t been able to update my blog. please, can anyone help?

  • have you CHMOD the uploads folder to 777?

also make sure all sub-folders are CHMOD 777

    Hi,

    Check with these options:

-> Assign 766 recursive permissions to wp-contents folder.
-> Make sure that you have set proper upload folder path from wordpress admin area
-> disable all the plugins and enable it one by one to find out the culprit.

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

thank you cre8tive and shane g.

here’s the new error message i get when i change the permissions “on my back end” to 766

Unable to create directory /Library/WebServer/WebSites/lmertins/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009/09. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

honestly, i can barely figure this shizz out. i don’t know what CHMOD means or whether i should be monkeying with wordpress or my backend.

i’ve hired someone to redesign a theme and all i had to do was upgrade wordpress. can either of you imagine my dismay and desire to just scream? i — snif — feel so alone…

ps, pretty sure i’ve got the correct path in wordpress admin:

    wp-content/uploads

    right?

and i have no plugins enabled…

lisabethanm – i will be glad to help you out ..
