   Hi,

   I consistently have problems upgrading wordpress and plugins. I also have trouble installing new themes and plugins.

   The message is usually "cannot create directory/path". Sometimes it completely shuts down for "maintenance" when I am trying to install or upgrade.

   Not sure if this is a hosting issue or wordpress issue but I have been having this trouble for quite some time now.

   A lot of times it is either a permissions issue or an ownership issue. This post and this post both have some ways to try and fix the issue.
