• Hi folks,
I Really hope you can help me find the root cause of the following error.

I am unable to up date any of my plugins or themes. Currently I have three plugins that need updating.
    The plugins are:
    Jetpack by WordPress.com
You have version 2.1.2 installed. Update to 2.2

    List category posts
You have version 0.28 installed. Update to 0.30.1

    W3 Total Cache
You have version 0.9.2.7 installed. Update to 0.9.2.8.

A bit more background. I am hosted on Godaddy, and am running a “Self Installed” WordPress 3.5.1 install (a Godaddy tech walked through the install with me because the godaddy applications tool was broke the day I did the install).

Whenever I try and update a plugin or theme, I get the following error:
The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.

    Enabling Maintenance mode…

Updating Plugin Jetpack by WordPress.com (1/1)
    Downloading update from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/jetpack.2.2.zip…
An error occurred while updating Jetpack by WordPress.com: Download failed. Could not open handle for fopen() to /home/content/62/6100762/tmp/jetpack.tmp.

    Disabling Maintenance mode…

    All updates have been completed.

Now of course Godaddy says this is a WordPress problem, and has nothing to do with them… IF so, can some one tell me how to fix it, if it IS (which it has to be) a godaddy problem, how do I tell them to fix it?

    Thank you,

Has no one see an error like this?

Yes, I’m getting it now. All I can think to do is download the plugin and install it manually.

How is it that no one answers these posts?

Generally, starting your own thread will more likely get answered – bumping takes posts out of the “unanswered” queue. See:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome#Where_To_Post

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome#No_Bumping

Also, these forums are 100% volunteer, so unfortunately, sometimes we just don’t get to all of them.

I wasn’t bumping his his post; the OP has already done that twice – 3 months ago. I was only confirming that there was an identical issue with another user out there.

I don’t need links to posting rules, I need answers on how to resolve a JetPack update error (An error occurred while updating Jetpack by WordPress.com: Download failed. Could not open handle for fopen() to /tmp/jetpack.tmp.) and Google gave me this as the #1 search result. Others exist but were not related to JetPack. I’d accept a generic answer to what is probably a generic problem, if you pull JetPack and put another plugin in its place, but the OP didn’t even get that.

    I’ll post a new issue.

I don’t need links to posting rules

I disagree. If you had stopped to read the forum’s guidelines before posting, you wouldn’t have asked a question like “How is it that no one answers these posts? ” in a 3-month old topic started by someone else.
