Unable to post via w.bloggar 4.0 using WordPress 1.5.1.3 (5 posts)

Unable to login to my blog via w.bloggar in WordPress 1.5.1.3. The following is the error I get whenever I try loggin-in to post from w.bloggar:

HTTP POST failed. The error number (500) is the returned HTTP status code.

This has something to do with the security upgrade, since logging-in and posting via w.bloggar worked in 1.5.1.2. It would be really nice for normal users to have a posting made available via XMLRPC via a client like w.bloggar for many reasons viz., rich interface, simple and easy image upload options, writing posts offline (esp for people on dial-ups).

Any help to get this working is really appreciated. If this requires some work on the software side [post/get], someone (or I) could request Marcelo (w.bloggar creator) to look-into this and help support the new change?

An error 500 is a generic internal server error, which means that there was a problem with your server configuration. The actual error (with an actual description) is deposited in your server error logs. Without know what that error is, we can't help you.

macmanx: you're right. I checked with my hosting company and they told me that they had 'disabled' access to xmlrpc following an alert about exploit.

So, if anyone faces a similar problem (of unable to post via xmlrpc), this is one of the leads to look out for.

Just to add to this. I'm running w/ Word Press 1.5.1.3 (installed via Fantastico on Redhat w/ cPanel Stable). If you try to access the xmlrpc.php file directly, you get this:

"XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only."

Now, I have PEAR-XML_RPC updated. I'm currently sitting at version 1.4.0. PHP is still version 4.3.11, however.

Any thoughts on a fix? It would be nice to use a client versus logging in via web all the time. I can post, but I get an error doing so and I can't edit previous posts, like I could previously. I get fatal errors or other error types of all sorts with different blogging clients that I attempt to use. I still have my movabletype installation on the server while I port entries to WP. MT doesn't generate any errors when editing or trying to post. However, MT is posted to a CGI file versus a php file.

I'm pulling my hair out trying to find a fix. This is annoying.

Nevermind. I think I have it fixed. Updated the files with the files found here (was posted in another forum thread as well):

Anywho. It works now. No errors w/ w.bloggar now.
