    Hi,

I am hoping someone can help me log back in to my blog site hosted with 123-reg?
I had forgotten my password to log in and did a search on how to resent and followed instructions to reset via the functions.php file. I edited the file as suggested, which did not work but gave me this message at the login panel:-

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /websites/123reg/LinuxPackage22/pa/ul/fg/paulfgill.co.uk/public_html/blog/wp-content/themes/coraline/functions.php:1) in /websites/123reg/LinuxPackage22/pa/ul/fg/paulfgill.co.uk/public_html/blog/wp-login.php on line 368

I came on here, read a fe wposts on how to rectify this by ensuring no gaps etc between the <?php and >? tags but I do not know any php coding at all so am struggling somewhat.

I have tried for over 2 hours now to try and rectify this by following the various posts on here and other suggestions but to no avail.

Is it possible someone can help out and support with this as I am at a loss as how to move forward without completely re-installing and that is something I would rather try and avoid.

I can copy the code form the function.php file if someone can assist?

Thank you in anticipation of your support.

    Paul

Use an FTP tool such as FileZilla or your host provided file manager to upload and overwrite your theme's function.php file...Then, make sure to do a full site files and db backup prior to any site edits...so you can quickly put files back in place with syntax or codding errors..you may also be able o ask your host if they have a backed up version they can restore.

You can try downloading a copy of your theme to your local computer and then using FTP - replace the entire functions.php file in your theme with the new copy.

And the morale to this story is, only edit your code via ftp as, you can quickly perform and "undo" on your ?.php page, and save it... you may experience a short outage but... I use a local server on my home equipment to "experiment" once it works locally then, try it on the server... the replace the theme is the quickest solution in your case... I concur with WP on this one...
