Last night I attepted to change something in the function.php file and I must have done something wrong because I got an error message the said
"Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /homepages/46/d406036430/htdocs/wp-content/themes/presswork/functions.php on line 1122" I tried deleting what I had added, but the error message remained, and this morning I found that I was unable to login to the backend to try and fix the issue.

I'm using the PressWork theme, and hosting through 1and1 Any advice would be most helpful

    Hi,
If you are editing your theme I guess you are using a child theme so to get back on track you can rename the child theme using an FTP client, Twenty eleven theme will replace your theme and you will be able to go back to your site.

Thanks for the quick response, I'm pretty much new to this, so I didn't understand much of what you said. I used FileZilla as my FTP client, which file is the "child file" that I need to rename and what is the twenty Eleven theme? Does it matter that I'm using the PressWork theme? Thank's again for your help

Ok, you are editing functions.php if you are doing so it is recommended to use a chid theme so you won't lose your work at any update, now I see that you are changing the code of your theme so to get back on track rename presswork to pressworkold using FileZilla and then you will be able to connect to your site
