• I’m at the very beginning of putting together my blog and cannot get Lunatic Fringe to load as my theme. I have downloaded it successfully but I am unable to locate the theme folder, “wp-content/themes directory”.

    Thanks.

  • downloaded it to where???? your own computer?

thats because you need to do more than download it.

unless your blog is being hosted on your own computer …

Most people get a web host, they use wordpress on their webhost. Making themes or, for that matter, any content available on the web host, means the content needs to exist on the web host — NOT YOUR own computer.

That means that after you download something, you need to upload it to your web host. The same thing applies to themes.

Thank you whooami but still not understanding because I have since been able to upload a different theme to my blog.

I’m sorry but I don’t remember exactly what the command said but basically, it instructed me to ‘click here to load this theme’ – which I did.

So, wondering why I can’t do the same with Lunatic Fringe.

    still not understanding what?

you havent been too clear with what youve done, so far.

How about instead of my guessing at what you have done, you tell me.

…because I have since been able to upload a different theme to my blog.

what do you mean by “upload”?

In your first post, you said you downloaded a theme. Thats great. Now you have to upload it to where your blog is. Uploading and downloading isnt the same thing — one grabs something, the other sends something.

I’m sorry but I don’t remember exactly what the command said but basically, it instructed me to ‘click here to load this theme’ – which I did.

Thats NOT uploading or downloading. Thats activating a theme that already exists on the web server, inside wp-content/themes/

The themes dont get their magically, you have to upload them.

I put together a 2 part video tutorial that explains this, but Im hesitant to suggest it to you, because youre missing a very basic understanding of internet fundamentals .. but here goes:
