• Hi,
I am new to WordPress. I have recently installed XAMPP and then moved the WordPress installable to the C:\xampp\htdocs folder and installed WordPress.

When I start WordPress from the Programs->Wordpress-> Launch WordPress module, I can see the twentythirteen theme displayed on the browser.

When I try to launch the admin (http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin) , I am getting an error message.

    Please help.

    Thanks,
    sen_shub

  • Hi sen_shub,

XAMPP is a good choice, will definitely work for you.
Could you please give us the error message that you are receiving?

Also – try logging into http://localhost/wordpress/wp-login.php

Just also to confirm that ‘Apache’ and ‘MySQL’ are running (not sure if Apache is needed but with both of those on it works for me).

    Thanks.

    Hi Timothy,
It was giving a “Not Found” error when I tried to access the admin pages through URL http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin. However, I found a “Log in” link on the WP screen which was displayed in the browser after launching the WP module. It allowed me to log in and displayed the admin screen for word press.

What intrigues me is that, when I tried access wp_admin through the URL – http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin it gave me “Not found”. However, when I logged in, I could see the URL as http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin.
    Am I missing something here?

Unfortunately I am not able to provide a screen shot which would have made things clearer.

    Any way thanks Timothy …..

    Cheers,
    Shubhayan.
