• This is a long story that I will try to make short.

In an attempt to get W3 TC to get along with WP Touch Pro, I’ve created a situation that I can’t figure out how to repair. These are the events as they happen now: Install W3 TC, activate, greeted by an immediate server 500 error. I change the name of the htaccess file, go to WP settings and change Permalinks so another format (matters not which one) and the site is recovered. This then allows me to get back into the WP dashboard, where I find “You’ve selected disk caching with enhanced mode however the .htaccess file is not properly configured. Please run chmod 777/home/content/75/5302875/html/.htaccess, then . To manually modify your server configuration for enhanced mode append the following code….and I also have the warning: “You’ve enabled Browser Cache feature however the .htaccess file is not properly configured. Please run chmod 777 /home/content/75/5302875/html/.htaccess, then . To manually modify these settings use the following code:….

I’ve done all of these things as directed above, yet I still end up with the same warning message. I’m hosted at Godaddy, and only after several hours of troubleshooting with them and my own stumbling around to at least get my site back up and running, I am now unable to successfully install W3 Total Cache. Repeated removal of the plugin, and reinstall results in the same situation.

There is a glitch somewhere, so any help would be appreciated..thanks!

Narrowing this down somewhat, it looks like the htaccess file is simply failing to write properly.

Did you ever remove the W3TC directives from your .htaccess file completely or check your error log for specific messages?
