Unable to import MT

    When I run the import-mt script, it will not go to Step 1. I wonder if it is because I am on php 5+? I know there was a line to change when installing, and I wonder if something like this needs to happen with the import as well.

    I only have a text export of the MT site as there is no mySQL on my current host and I haven’t upgraded MT past 2.64. And I know nothing about php.

    The text file was huge, so I broke it down into smaller bits, but it still won’t work (even when file is only 1 mb).

    Anyone know how to get this working?

    Have you tried importing a test file of only a couple of entries? This would help establish whether the problem is with the size of the file (1mb is still pretty big, as text files go!)

    Good idea. I just tried on a file <100 kb and it didn’t work. It doesn’t take long for the page to just reload and say done. The URL says Step 1, however it shows the same exact page as the intro.

    and I don’t suppose there is another way to do this?

    100 kb is still quite big, as text files go… are your entries unusually long? Have you been editing them in Word, or any other text editor which might be adding extra data that WP can’t parse?

    100 kb is still large? The site I’m trying to transfer is about 11 MB! And yes, the entries are long.

    I have not done anything to the file except break it up into smaller files using WordPad.

    I just tried doing 1 post (~2 kb) and it still didn’t work. Same thing happens – the intro page loads but says Step 1 in the URL.
