• I am new to wordpress2; I uploaded several themes – however none of them allow me to edit my images (align, demensions, borders, vertical and horizontal space). In addition I have absolutely no sidebar widgets. I thought that perhaps it was the themes I uploaded but I checked in the two default themes and they are not in there either? Any thoughts on this?

    Here is my **beginning** layout http://ascenderrisesabove.com/wordpress/

  • In order to use widgets, you’ll probably need to install the widgets plugin, which doesn’t come standard with WordPress. You can download it here. You’ll also need to use a widget-ready theme, and I don’t think the themes that come with a default WordPress install are; however, plenty of others are.

    Thank you for the feedback filosofo

    I think the theme I put up; has a few widgets enclosed… but what seems to be wrong is bigger then that. I seem to be missing basic parts of the wordpress install such as “Install/Edit Images” dialog;
    I can’t find a screenshot of that; however in WordPress 2 Quickstart book by Langer/Jordon I do not have figure 27 entitled “the insert/edit image dialog” (page 47)

    on my ‘write a page’/write a post’ I have no options to change the font (no bold, italic, flush right, no choice of fonts). the row of quick tags are missing

    this is what mine looks like:

    In the in WordPress 2 Quickstart book by Langer/Jordon I do not have figure 13 entitled “the visual rich editors toolbox” (page 44)

    In regards to Widgets I should have a widget button under dashboard->Presentation.
    in WordPress 2 Quickstart book by Langer/Jordon I do not have figures 34-38 entitled “sidebar arrangement” (page 18)

    I wish I could provide screenshots as to what I am looking at but all I can do is show what is missing.

    Thanks for your support!

    The problem was that I was working out of Safari which is not compatible with wp2
