Unable to Edit Files in Presentation Mode (3 posts)

I run a number of blogs, all on the wonderful WP platform. All of them are now upgraded to 2.3. However, the other day, I uploaded a fresh version of 2.3 to a new server for my newest blog (which I'm quite excited about!)

Here's where a small problem has presented itself, one I've never encountered before:

When I log in to my account and I go to the "presentation" section to edit my files (such as css, sidebar, etc.), there is a message at the bottom of the page that states:

"If this file were writable you could edit it."

Why am I not able to edit these files? I can do so easily on all of my other blogs. Has anyone encountered this type of situation before?

Is there anyone who can lend some assistance?

    Many thanx!

You need to CHMOD all the files in your template to 666 to be writable.

Thank you for the reply. As I'm not an expert on such matter (though I'm always expanding my knowledge base), I'm not quite sure of the best way to go about doing the CHMOD.

I already was once in the MySQL control panel, I think I may have changed all permissions to 777 (though I think this might be a bad thing to do for security reasons). But it was my understanding that a 777 code should have made my files writable, which it did not.

What am I doing incorrectly and what should I do to get back on the right path?

    Many thanx!

    Twan
