Hello,
A friend of mine did the initial setup of my website (downloaded the wordpress software, parked my domain name with a host, etc). Is there is a way that I can change the permissions as has been stated as solving the problem without the word press software or do I have to download the software to make these changes?

Change the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

Thank you, but I still do not understand how to do this. Do I need to install the wordpress software myself first on my computer? As I stated, a friend of mine (who lives on the other side of the world) did the initial setup using wordpress on her own computer. I don't have it on my computer. Do I need to download it and install it first?
