'Unable to create directory' error when importing my previous WP.com blog (3 posts)

    Hello folks,

I've set up my new wordpress blog, and tried to import the old one that's I'd saved on my old blog, which I then shut down.

This is the error message I got:

Unable to create directory D:\Hosting\4297755\html/wp-content/uploads/2009/04. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

The blog I've now closed down wasn't updated much - there wasn't much there to import over, so I won't be heart broken if I have to start again.

However, I don't want the error to crop up once I've really got going with the blog, so can anyone help as to why it's coming up?

I don't understand why it tried to create a directory on my D:\. Do you think it tried to create a temporary drive and when it found my physical hard drive there it got confused?

    Hi Alex,

I found the following article which explains how to troubleshoot this error:

It helped me fix the "Unable to create directory D:\" error.

    Thanks.

Oops...I linked to a comment on the article (which is not the worst thing - I hope - but no one likes having to scroll back up to the main article). :)

    Here's the correct link:
