[resolved] Unable to Configure Lists (7 posts)

"amr-users" was working fine when checked a few days ago. Today, I saw a "no-such list" message on the page where amr-users was installed. The only change made over the last few days was that about 20 extra buddypress profile fields in 2 groups were added and a domain name was pointed at the IP address used previously. I upgraded to the latest amr-version to see if the problem resolves. If I click on "Configure Lists", nothing happens. The MYSQL database was also checked for errors.

IN any system, one does tend to find a few nigglies when one changes domain names/hosts etc. usually some option is stored somewhere with the old ip/url path and wp borks... especially admin will probably fail a referrer check or something.

Check wordpress setting home and site url have been updated to use new domain name.

Can you access the other menu options in the user list settings? They share code or use similar code. Is there anything at all on the screen, any message, any sidebar ? or is it the dreaded admin white page?

Can you access the configure from the user list itself (under the user menu? ) - what is the underlying url that it is showing (when you hover?)

Did the default list 1 still exist?

Just checked for 'no such list' message. That happens if somehow the stored options don't have the detail for the list number passed to it. That should never happen under normal circumstances.

There are a couple of wp options that the plugin uses - it might be finding one with no problem and then somehow the data doesn't match up?

That would tend to indicate a db problem. I recently helped someone whose database seemed to having lots of problems. Had to be 'repaired' a few times - suspect the hardware was dying.

Hop into phpmyadmin and see if this the problem.

Thank you Anmari. I have pasted answers to questions below.

    Q) Check wordpress setting home and site url have been updated to use new domain name.
-- Answer: Checked and is fine.

    Q) Can you access the other menu options in the user list settings?
-- Yes - all the options are visible. General Settings works.

    Q) Can you access the configure from the user list itself (under the user menu? )
-- I can see the "Configure" link but clicking it just shows me a long list of fields. Nothing on the list is selectable.

    Q) What is the underlying url that it is showing (when you hover over the link?)
    http://www.mydomain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?ulist=2&page=ameta-admin-configure.php&_wpnonce=83c6d26652

    Q) Did the default list 1 still exist?
-- Yes - but its configuration function button does not work.

-- Repaired the MySQL DB just to be sure also.

-- Overall the system discovers all the fields I need but will not allow to configure any list.

    Hi wibarm,
haven't forgotten you, just very busy right now.
I'm happy to hop in and look for a small fee. email anmari@anmari.com

If it's a bug I'll fix it, but since it is not happening elsewhere sounds like something specific to your system.

If you do not mind rebuilding your lists, you could 'reset' all settings (basically deletes the stored options) and see if that resets it.

    Configure should look like this
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/amr-users/screenshot-4.png?r=724595

Since it does somewhat involve a list of fields, the thought occurs to me that maybe you have something interfering with the display, maybe with the css ?
If a reset does not work, then try disabling all other plugins - goto default theme and see if that sorts it out.

I'd also suggest you setup on your test/dev system and check whether ok there and look what is different between the two systems - process of elimination type stuff.

Can also try deleteing the plugin code and reloading. Sometimes (rarely but does happen) files get corrupted in an update or ftp load.

    Hi Anmari,

Downgrading to 3.6 solved the problem.
The configuration option started working again.

Thank you for your help and your excellent plug-in.
