• For some reason the backup feature on the dashboard isn’t working right. I tried to do a backup and selected it be emailed to me. It did the backup and said the file was emailed to me, but it was not. So then I tried doing the backup and selected that it be downloaded to my computer. Once again, it did the backup, but when finished, it did not give me the option to download the file to my computer; it just said the backup was complete. Also, I have a plugin to do an automatic backup. It’s supposed to automatically do the backup once a week (today). It did not do the backup this week.

Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions?

You have any ideas what might be going on here?

  • Have you tried disabling the backup plugin to see if it may be causing a conflict with deprecated code?

It’s not the plugin. It’s the backup function on the dashboard.

And how do you disable the backup plugin? I am a novice at this.

    Thanks.

I understand it is not the plugin. However, since they are related to the same function, the plugin may be causing an error. In your admin panel, go to Plugins/Installed Plugins. Click on the Active tab. Click Deactivate under the backup plugin. Clear your browser cache and then try the dashboard backup function again.

Interestingly, when I deactivate the plugin, the backup functionality disappears from the dashboard. Activate it again, and it reappears. Any thoughts?

On completely different blogs with different plugins (both on and off) my WordPress backup is not working either. It does everything it is supposed to but it does not email the file or download it.

WordPress core does not have backup functionality.

Yes: that dashboard backup functionality is part of your backup Plugin.

What backup Plugin are you using?

The backup plugin I have is called WordPress Database Backup, version 2.2.3. The developer is Austin Matzko.

Tagged for the developer; I’m pretty sure he monitors his Plugin forum.
