Everytime I try to update my plugins automatically I get the following error for each:
An error occured while updating xxx xxxx xxxxx: Incompatible Archive. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature.
I know this was an issue a while back in 2.something, any ideas why it is happening for me in 3.0?
Many thanks,
Mark

I still can't find a solution to this one, just lots of people with the same problem... any ideas?
Looks like the downloads are being corrupted. Have you spoken to your hosts about this? There could an issue at their end. In the meantime, all I can suggest is that you update your plugins manually.

It's happening across 2 different hosts..... uploads from other parts of wordpress work fine, as do downloads in non-wordpress scripts on same server. Wasn't this a coding issue in 2.something which was fixed?
Not as far as I'm aware. Is it happening with all plugins or only specific ones?

All plugins are doing it, and themes
Any common plugins installed on both sites? Have you tried deactivating all plugins except the one that needs upgrading? Ditto themes.

Yep deactivating all had no effect. Most plugins in common. Things like role scoped, autouri, captchafree spam protection. Trying to install completely new plugins in this way same result. Having to manually install everything at present!
Best guess - it's an issue with the server somewhere. Do you have any problems picking up news feeds in the Dashboard?

No all those seem to work fine. As I said all the other CMS's I run can update without issues, just wordpress struggling
Do you have access to error logs on the server? They might give some indication as to where the problem is.

No server errors recorded for this, I presume cos wordpress handles it?

OK so I decided to try to upgrade automatically to wordpress 3.0.1... no problems and now no problems upgrading plugins. Perhaps a server config problem but since I'm on a shared host I can't be sure. The main thing is it's all working now :o)
