• Resolved PASS2013

I have two WP blogs and have successfully put a static home page on my first blog which is using the Responsive theme. I was looking to do something similar on my second website which is using the 2012 theme but when I go to Settings > Reading there is no radiobutton to create a static home page. I have tried activating it via the Appearance > Theme > Customize but it doesn’t even seem to save the radio button setting it just reverts back to Latest Posts.

I’m completely baffled as it doesn’t make sense to me that both blogs are on the same version of WP (albeit with different themes) and are behaving significantly differently.

  • You need to have at least one page added in order to see the radio button to create a static front page. Do you have any pages added under the “Pages” tab?

Yes I have several pages, the one I want to use is called Home and contains a slideshow gallery using the WP plug in. However as the website is in development mode all pages are set to Private, is that the problem?

Yes, that would be the problem. Try making just one public test page and hopefully you’ll see an option to create a static front page.

yeah after updating this thread I went to the dashboard for that installation to see what the problem was and noticed that the overview says 0 pages even though I’ve got four created just not implemented yet.

Just created a quick test page and it works as intended /phew thanks for your help. The most annoying problems often seem to be the most simple

“The most annoying problems often seem to be the most simple.” – Very true. I always get caught out by these things too!

    Glad your problem’s resolved. 🙂
