I have to blogs; let’s make it easy BlogA runs on WordPress.com.
BlogB runs on my own host server. Both are running the same version of WordPress and the same version of JetPack.

On BlogA I have the Text Widget on the top of the sidebar.
It has a simple picture, with some text beneath it that includes 2 u-code characters (a copyright symbol and wolf feet).

On BlogB I have the same Text Widget on the top of the sidebar.
It has a simple picture, with text beneath it. BUT not the u-code characters. When I add those, save the widget and then go check the page to see it displayed, the entire widget disappears.

Here’s the code that works on WordPress.org that won’t work on my own hosted server.
