Support » Fixing WordPress » Tying a custom URL to a page

  • I’m using my WP site as a standard business site. I’m crafting a series of landing pages that tie to a variety of Google Adwords campaigns.

I’d like to be able to use Display URLs in these ads that pertain to the content. For example, instead of my main site domain, I’d like to be able to display something like “AutomatedVideoStinks.com,” that leads to a page on my site talking specifically about why automated video solutions are bad, and our solution is better.

The problem is that Google doesn’t allow redirects. And rightly so, as they’re often used to mislead or hoodwink users. That would NOT be the case here. I just want the simplicity of one WP site, with a single aesthetic, rather than having to create a dozen separate WP installations for each part of the business.

Back when we used a “standard” web site, it used to be no problem to tie an addon domain to a particular directory. Going to AutomatedVideoStinks.com would take the user to the http://www.mysite.com/automatedvideo directory. The parent links were external, so mysite.com/whateva would appear if they went somewhere else.

That’s not feasible here. http://www.mysite.com/automatedvideo is a permalink, not an actual directory.

I’m not a coder, but I wonder if there isn’t some product, plugin, or other bit of wizardry that will let me tie my custom domains to individual landings pages on a single WP site. I really don’t want to have to break my content up into a gazillion one-page minisites.

    Many thanks, Daniel Park
