two templates for a category

hi everyone
I’ve been struggling for a copuple of days with this. I need to show the same category results in two differents templates. I mean, i have to show a condensed version of the category and i would have another button inside of this that it will send me to another page where i could see everything.

by the moment the only solution that i have is to have an specific page template for each category (even if they all have the same template) and another Category general template.

I don’t have any problem with that but im afraind that if my client wants to create another category i wouldn’t work and i would have to create another template.

p.d. is there any way in my query i can direct the permalink to category.php insted category-slug.php. i think using hierarchy may work…
