Two kinds of blogs on one site? (7 posts)

I have essentially 2 types of posts. One consists of short paragraphs with links to other sites. The other consists of longer posts that I have written, rather like articles. I'd like to have them on separate pages. Currently the landing page is the blog rather than a static page.

I'd like to keep that landing page for the short paragraphs and have a menu item to take visitors to the page with my article posts.

Can I do that and if so, how.

Are these posts in different categories? Or do they have different tags?

Hadn't thought about that question. The way things stand now, it's possible that posts of either type could have the same categories. The same with tags.

If that's a problem, I could do some kind of change. For example, if there's a category "lifestyle," perhaps I could have "lifestyle" for the paragraphs and "lifestyle-Martin" or something like that for the articles. Though, of course, I don't have any idea what kind of implications or repercussions that might have.

    Thanks.

Take a look at the post formats http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Formats

I think link or quote post format can be used for that.

Unfortunately, it looks as though my theme doesn't support post formats. That's a bummer. I wonder whether there's another way to do this?

Then I think you need to make two categories or tag for those two types of posts. Then add them on menu so when people click on them only the posts on that specific tag shows.

That looks as though it might be a good workaround, prionkor. I'll experiment with it and let you know how it turns out.
    Thanks.
