    Hello all-
I'm looking for a way to add a second column of text; it seems most blogs have sidebars, but I don't care for that. Just want to able to have a second column where I can add a few "update" kind of blurbs. The "text box" type of widgets an almost do it, but I prefer having a fully editable second column.... Can someone shed som light on this.
    Thanks!

I have no idea how your blog looks like or what theme is in use... so the answer will be as vague as your question.

Sure. Re-design your theme, add a new "column"; put into it a custom Loop showing only your "blurb" category; exclude that category from the original Loop. Of course, this would mean to have a separate category (update/blurb whatever) for those posts.

OK. I'm back on a qwerty; typed the original question on an azerty, hence the the typos....
Thanks for the tip; unfortunately I've taken the blog off-line for a while. It's for a French "housing rights" association, and they weren't happy with the layout.
I've made a mock-up with the same elements at: http://freelunch.free.fr/
    I'm using Cutline 3-Column Split.

Basically, I want the functionality and edibility of the "Pages" widget, and the visibility of the "Text 1" widget.

I want to be able to add/edit posts like "Pages" but, unlike "Pages," not have to click a link to read the posts. I want the instant visibility of "Text 1" widget, ie. all the text on the sidebar of the mainpage, and the functions of "Pages" widget.

Really? My noobish request for help in making a readable sidebar is trollish? I see there's vast chasm between being a noob and a snob :-(

NO. Whats makes you a troll is exactly what i linked to. You posted THAT crap to a thread you were not even involved in.

Need a better description of what you did:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll

... someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion

    That makes you a troll.

Furthermore, like it or not, Moshu gave you the best answer he could. AND, it was amazingly polite. You dont indicate what theme you are using. You dont provide a link to your site.

Your question is vague, and basically unanswerable.

Thats like me asking you to go buy me a pair of pants when you havent even met me. You would go, "wtf".

Being a "newb" doesnt proffer you the option of asking unanswerable questions. You HAVE asked a question, before, right?

Lastly, your judgment of Moshu's history, that you were so compelled to mention to me in your email to me -- that means nothing. He didnt answer you rudely, he answered you matter of factly -- you found it to be rude, because you didnt get what you wanted. And you, unfortunately, are not alone when it comes to asking poorly worded questions, and NOT reading replies.

When you have spent as long as Moshu has on this forum, helping the countless fucking people that come and go and hardly ever say thank you -- only THEN do you have the right to cast a disparaging eye on Moshu.

For those who dont want to click, here is Franglais' post in the linked thread:

Hey Moshu-were you born an asshole, or did it start after you fucked over so many people you decided, "what the hey! I'm so good at being a total dickhead, I think I'll go pro!"?

Oh, I went and clicked on the link. And I'm glad I did that before I decided to try to help this person. (And here I was all ready to post CODE and everything, jesus.)

You know, franglais, I can curse like a dock worker too. But I try not to bite the hands that feed me or insult anyone who is trying to help me or in any other way show my a$$ in public the way you just did.

Remember ONE thing about this forum if you don't remember anything else about it (including to mind your manners): Everyone here is a volunteer. No one has to answer your question if they don't want to. Simple as that. And when I see $hit like you just posted, any inclination I personally had to help you flies right out the window. And I'm quite certain that my view is shared by others here, others who have forgotten more about WP than I'll ever know.

And thinking that no one was going to be able to find that other post of yours .. well that's an even bigger insult.

    "Amazingly polite"?!

So I can't call him an asshole for saying 'amazingly polite" jewels like these:

"I assume the call for your sidebar is also "coded" in that obfuscated sh*t.
You should never use a theme that puts this kind of crappy code in the files."
"Did you close the anchor (a) tag started? - No you didn't."
    "Define 'update'"
    "Says who?"
    "nothing 'advanced' here"
    Oh, the list goes on....

    His answers are plain rude.
If all you groupies fail to see that, and are blind to the others here who feel the same as I do, and who haven't googled him (try moshu plus and expletive) than feel free to live in denial that His Holiness is a great and kind person.
    But whatever.
