To make a long story short, I'm looking for a WordPress plugin that will supply me with these features:
The ability to post a link to the page with the image on (Not Lightbox/jQuery based)
View count
Comments (Preferably supporting the Twitter API, but I know that you can install a plugin to grab tweets, so this isn't a problem for me either way).
It has come to my attention over the past few months that I let a lot of my traffic disappear through services such as TwitPic and yFrog. I am aware that you can embed widgets for these services into WordPress, but they still retain your data and earn a profit through it and your visitors still leave your site to go and view the images. I would like to return to hosting everything myself like I once did in the early 00s and for the most part, I manage this.
I didn't have much luck with Twitter Image Host, TweetPress or Twitter2Press. All of these had the foundation for a great plugin, but have either lost all support in terms of development or don't work the way they need to.
I understand that I could just do this all by hand and crop thumbnails of each image myself and add them to a page which links to a dedicated post with the image within it, but in terms of management and speed, it just isn't a decent solution.
Does anybody have any suggestions or can they explain what they are currently doing? I know that some people currently use Tumblr and a plugin to import posts from their Tumblr, I once detested Tumblr with a passion, but I don't use it and have no interest in using it as a third party still hosts your data and I'd like to keep everything on the same domain name too.
