Twitter Exception Message: name lookup timed out

I have been trying to get the latest tweets to work for weeks and unfortunately every time i try I get this error:

Twitter Exception Message: name lookup timed out

anyone have a workaround for this? I have done so much searching and cant find anything to solve.
