  • I’m having the same problem after upgrading to 3.8. I recently upgraded WP and my plugins. My theme hasn’t changed.

Posting the URL of the tweet does not embed, but posting the embed code from Twitter works.

Here’s a recent post with the embed code working:

Posting the URL of the tweet only shows the actual URL in text, but does not embed the tweet.

Ah sorry – thought that our issues would be similar (i.e., related to WP 3.8). I’ll create a new topic but continue to monitor this.

Same issue as OP. Youtube embeds work, and Twitter embeds worked until recently. Nothing else has changed. What’s the deal.

Here’s my blog with a post that uses embedded tweets. This worked before.

    FYI…

This isn’t a WordPress issue but an issue with the Twitter API. Here’s an excerpt of the announcement from Twitter:

On January 14th, 2014, connections to api.twitter.com will be restricted to TLS/SSL connections only. If your application still uses HTTP plaintext connections you will need to update it to use HTTPS connections, otherwise your app will stop functioning.

The WordPress dev team is already working on a fix that might be released in 3.81

Yep! This has been fixed in 3.81!

Gentlemen hello, I have version 3.8.1 and I am still having trouble embedding tweets. All that comes up is the text version of the tweet as opposed to the picture of the actual tweet that allows someone to follow the person who’s tweet I use. Are any of you having this issue?
