This header is what it needs to look like but I know it's not proper. I can't select the H2 tagline text and it's all over the place on the iPhone. Should I avoid absolute positioning? Should I put new divs above the hgroup or inside?

How are you making your CSS changes, where?

Absolute positioning does seem partially responsible, but you probably still need to position/scale your image down as well in media queries.

From what I can tell it isn't just positioning but some float/clearing issues on smaller screens. :(
What do you mean you can't select the h2 tagline?
