• I’d like to be able to select a different top-of-page (‘site’) image for the TwentyTen theme. Not the ‘featured’ image that WP easily allows me to select, but the wide one that headlines the entire page/screen.
Is there a plugin or method by which I could achieve this, short of hardcoding each page? The site has/will have approx. 100 pages, each with a different headline image.

Any assistance gratefully received – I’m a newbie with both WP and PHP (but not with CSS, HTML). Thanks.

  • do you want to change the image for the site, or for individual pages?

For the site, just change it via the theme options,(appearance > header)

For individual pages the featured image is probably the easiest solution.

Thanks, but neither solution is appropriate.
TwentyTen has one image for the whole site as part of the design. That’s the image I want to be unique/different for each page.
The featured image appears below the top ‘site’ image, after the navigation and h1 heading etc. Whilst that’s very easy to set for each page, it’s not the ‘site’ headline image.
Can I alter the code so that the easy-to-change-for-every-page featured image actually appears in/becomes the ‘site’ image location. Just change a CSS tag or PHP call, maybe?

ahh then you aren’t uploading an image big enough – upload one, and use it as the featured image, with dimensions the same or greater than the header image and it should replace it automatically.
