• I changed the font color and size for <h2> and my primary menu got unselected. Went into dashboard and selected the menu I created, easy. But why did that happen if using a child theme was supposed to retain settings? Anyone else? A bug?

  • WordPress treats a Child Theme as a different Theme entirely. In fact, a Child Theme is a different Theme entirely; it’s just a special kind of Theme, that uses another Theme as a template.

    So, yes: if you switch to a Child Theme, you will have to re-apply all of your settings and Theme-mod customizations (nav menus, Widgets, header/background, etc.).
