TwentyEleven - Showcase as default home page (9 posts)

    Hi,

Could you please help me how to set up the showcase template as the default home page of the blog.

What I'd like to do further (secondary to the question above) is:

    - Combine the title of the blog and the header image into one, so that the title of the blog falls over the header image, which is going to save vertical space

    - If the showcase template becomes the homepage, list all the posts under the "showcase-space" in the way the first post is being listed (title + excerpt) and not like the posts below that (small list).

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jordy

In answer to your initial question, see Creating_a_Static_Front_Page then apply the showcase template to your new static home page. With regard to the rest, do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress 3.2 theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues.

Create a child theme for your customisations. Once your child theme is active, we should be able to help with the customisation.

    Thanks for your answer esmi.

And I forgot to mention, I have created a child theme.

What do you mean with "see v", because the link doesn't go anywhere?

Thank you, this worked wonderfully. I completely overlooked that option and thought it was in the theme settings.

Secondly, can you help me out to display the recent posts like the first recent post and not like the stripped list that displays below it.

Basically, the below code is what handles it, but I can't seem to figure out how to display all recents posts like the first one.

[Code moderated as per the Forum Rules. Please use the pastebin]

    Your help is much appreciated.
