Twenty twelve won't update properly

    I have my website well developed with twenty twelve and a child theme. WordPress and all my plugins are up to date and working. I try to update my twenty twelve parent and lose a lot of my custom changes like my footer, social icons and breadcrumbs. I don’t even know where to begin looking for the problem. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
