I am stumped trying to create a simple banner image with a text link on it, using the Twenty Twelve theme. This is something extremely simple (apparently) in the Twenty Eleven theme, according to the Designing Headers page in the Codex. I'm trying to make a basic clickable text link over a page-wide image banner, like in this image from the Codex:
Now I've fiddled around with the CSS extensively. I've got a child theme working fine, I can move the Site Title above the Header Image, as described in other Forum tips I read here. But I just can't seem to combine them. I'm not sure where to combine them. You can change Header.php, and some changes to the child's style.css is probably necessary. Can anyone suggest a few hints?
I think the problem here is that the Twenty Twelve theme has a "responsive design" approach, the banner gets resized as you move the window narrower and the dynamic width web page is reformatted, making it work on even tiny screens like an iPhone. I could just remove the Site Title, and photoshop the name into the graphic in the Header Image. But when it's resized, it looks really ugly. So I would rather use a text link over the image, and have the image span the width of the page.
