• This site iet2020.com uses the new Twenty Thirteen theme with the Meteor Slides plugin running in the header.

I can’t figure out how to force the images to resize themselves width-wise (but not height-wise) with the rest of the content. As it is, they extend to their full 1600px to the right, creating a ton of white space. Turning on “max-width:100%” on the corresponding div only reduces the image to fit the width of the window, a gap between the banner and the nav. Is there a way to “crop” the image at the point where the window ends, while extending the visible portion upon resizing the window?

I’m not able to see your site, it’s set to private. But I don’t think it’s going to work like you want it to. The slides are meant to scale responsively with the rest of the site, so they will shrink to fit the space available, the cropping won’t change. But it sounds like there are some layout issues with the gaps that could be fixed.
