I am a beginner and need simple guidance:
    On this page:
    http://www.abundanthealthwellness.com/news/october-news/

I would like to replace "ARCHIVES" and "META" information with simple custom content (Text).

What is the easiest way to do that?

    Thanks,

    Peter

You need to remove the two widgets and insert the Text Widget. To do this, login to your Dashboard and then:

    Click on: Appearance >> Widgets

On the right hand side you will the Widgets titled: Archives and Meta

On those widgets you will also see the drop-down button. click on them one after the another and click the DELETE button/text

This will remove both of them.

Now in the middle, you will find various Widgets. One of then is called Text. Drag it to the side bar and it will open for you automatically to the necessary editing and to give it a title. Don't forget the Title to this.

    Hope this helps.

THANK YOU very much for your guidance.

The challenge is that there are *NO* widgets listed on the right side in dashboard-appearance-widgets.

Could it have to do with the fact that I have the sidebar only activated in one particular page, the one I linked to above:
    http://www.abundanthealthwellness.com/news/october-news/

Doesn't the fact that the Archive and Meta widgets clearly show on the page imply that I ought to see them on the right hand side of the widget area in dashbpard-appearance-widgets?

Your response addresses exactly what I am trying to do, if I could figure out *where* to delete the existing widgets?

    Thanks,

    Peter

Do you see something like this:

Look at the two red boxes I have narked. You need to delete them by clicking on them and then pressing the DELETE button.

    Thanks!
That *is* exactly where I was looking for the ARCHIVE and META widgets to show so I can delete them. Hopefully you or anyone has an idea *why* they don't show up in the single page edit under Page Attributes-Template-Sidebar Template.

Could it have to do that the page "october news" has "news" as a parent page?

    Thanks.

    Peter

Sorry: I had put the text widget in the Showcase sidebar rather than the Main Sidebar.

Now I am all set, THANKS AGAIN!
