Twenty Eleven: Menu hover (1st level) problem (6 posts)

    Hi there,

In Twenty Eleven, when I hover over a menu item that has subitems the subitems change their color on hover. The top item always has the same light gradient. Can I add a hover effect there as well?

    Example: http://twentyelevendemo.wordpress.com/
Mouse over "A Parent Page". The subitems ("A Child Page", "Another Child Page", etc.) change their background on hover, the parent item ("A Parent Page") doesn't.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

    maybe ask at http://en.forums.wordpress.com/ (?)

this forum here is for wordpress.org related problems - why should anybody here comment on the behaviour of a wordpress.com theme?

if you have a selfhosted site running wordpress.org and have problems with the Twenty Eleven theme, please post a link to your site, so someone can check what is happening.

It is a problem with a self-hosted .org site. And the problem is the same as in the linked page as in any site using the Twenty Eleven theme. So me linking to the example page perfectly illustrates the problem.

Anyway, the site is launched by now so I can post the link here: http://partizipfutur.de (still working out minor kinks).

as what you described is not a problem (as far as i understand it), but the intended behaviour of the Twenty Eleven theme, there was reason to assume that maybe your site had some errors.

when the top item has the light gradient background, that is the hover state.
i don't really understand what you are truing to have different.

can you provide more details? possibly with a graphic sketch?

OK, the top item changes its background to a light gradient on mouse over, that is its hover state. But when I move the mouse further down to the sub items, they have a grey background on hover and a lighter background without. So they react to the mouse.

Is there a way to have this hover effect with the top item? So that the top item has one background color but when I move the mouse down to the sub items it has another?
