• http://thebitgen.com , i’ve been trying to figure this out for a few hours. i found a few piece of code saying i should edit lines for #branding hgroup and adding background-color or display none, but neither seem to work. in all of the css there are only 2 spots for branding hgroup. any ideas?

  • Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress 3.2 theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues.

    For this reason, it is recommended that you consider creating a child theme for your customisations. Once your child theme is active, we should be able to help with the customisation.

    Regardless of whether or not I have a child theme or an edited version of the original, how would you compare the two from just viewing my site setup? I’m confused as to why my particular scenario requires an untouched version of a default installed theme that comes with every wordpress installation. In any case, all files for my twenty eleven are untouched lest they be manipulated by plugins.

    this is a pure css problem and has not much to do with wordpress;

    even if you have a transparent background on #branding, what you see then is the background of #page which stretches down the whole site.

    if you set the background of #page to transparent (defined in dark.css), then your posts and the general content has no background.

    you then need to compensate and add a background to #main, and clear the floats, etc…..
