    I want to edit the output for the <?php edit_post_link(); ?> tag, but am unsure which file I would do this in.

    I want to make it similiar to my comment page where the link is represented by [e].

    Thanks!

    Depends upon where you have put this link. In your sidebar? Then look for it in your sidebar.php file and find the information on "tweaking" the link on the WordPress documentation Codex at http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/edit_post_link

    It's in my index. I'll check out the link. Thanks!

    Actually, I just read that page before posting. It didn't tell me which file to edit to tweak the output of the tag.

    Because the template tag link can be ANYWHERE in the index.php, sidebar.php, footer.php.........

    Depends upon the Theme and the author's decision on where to put it. I've seen it in different places.

    I don't think I'm explaining myself very clearly. I just put the tag in my index page and this is where it is and what it looks like:

    Filed under: Entertainment | Music | TV
    04/13/05 @ 7:28 PM | Comments (1) Edit This

    What I want to do, is tweak the "Edit This," to look like [e].

    The tag is already in my index file, because I put it there. I need to know where I go to tweak the actual output of the tag, or the "Edit This," link.

    Sorry if my original request was confusing.

    <?php edit_post_link('text', 'before', 'after'); ?>

    The above is the correct usesage structure for the tag from the edit_post_link Template Tag as mentioned above that you said you had looked at.

    Find the link where you say you put it and change the parameters.

    <?php edit_post_link('[e]'); ?>

    Okay, I get it now. Major brain fart. I went through every template looking to see where the tag is defined. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for your help Lorelle! I really appreciate it!

    Anytime. That's what we're hanging out for. We get a little help, we give a little help, we help people recover from brain farts, and then we pray that others will forgive our own brain farts...what goes around....well, I'll leave it at that.

    Heh - yup.... "brain fade" makes it sound a tad bit more mainstream though, y'know?
