[resolved] Turn off Quickpress widget for all users? (3 posts)

I am setting up a wordpress site that will be used by 50+ users of varying IT capabilities.

I want to discourage users from using the Quickpress widget, as its essential that users post in the correct category; and Quickpress doesn;t give a category option.

However for my users with lower IT capability, I suspect they will go straight to Quickpress when they see it - leaving me (as admin) with a large number of uncategorised posts to categorise.

I have found the option that allows me to hide Quickpress on my own dashboard. However is there a way to automatically stop quickpress appearing on ALL user accounts for my wordpress site, without me ahving to do it manually for each user?

Alternatively is there a way I can change quickpress to allow categories to appear - but hiding it is my preference.

I can't answer your questions directly but I suggest you take a look at Windows Live Writer.

I allows your users to write locally and post when done. One of the options is to remind users to specific categories and/or tag when posting. It's much better than having people compose online and your writers will love you for giving them the ability to write from anywhere, even without an internet connection.

Thanks very much. I can see that that would be a very good solution. However unfortunately on our IT network for various reasons we would not be able to install that Windows Live software - we are restricted to posting through the WordPress site :(

However thanks once more for a constructive solution
