Trying to use some new css tricks

I have been following blogs such as this one..

There are lots like this which show really nice effects with css3 and i would love to be able to use some of them. However, even though they go through the code piece by piece, all of these types of websites never actually tell you where you are supposed to put the files! They give you a zip file to download.. usually containing a css file and perhaps a javascript file, depending on what the effect is. In wordpress am I supposed to add the code inside the css file to the stylesheet? and if so.. where do I put the other files so that it works. I have tried adding the folder inside the theme folder so its in the same place as the stylesheet but it doesn’t work. I dont know how they can miss something so obvious but when I read the comments it seems I am the only one with the issue. I might be aiming too high and looking into advanced stuff as a beginner but I really want to learn fast. Anybody who has managed to use some of these fancy css tricks on their wordpress could you please point me in the right direction?

PS Im not just talking about that tutorial in particular. Most css3 tutorials always involve downloading a folder full of files with no instruction of where to put them..
