Trying to set up tag archive — “nothing found”

    I’ve been trying to set up an archive page so that when someone clicks on a link in the tag cloud they’ll see an archive of all the posts containing that tag. The documentation on this seems sketchy at best.

    What I’ve done was to copy my archive.php file to a new file called tag.php and uploaded it to my theme file.

    But, when I click on a tag in the tag cloud I get taken to a page (e.g. http://www.wildmind.org/tag/vipassana) that says “nothing found.”

    Presumably I’m doing something wrong. Anyone know what that might be?

    i dont see a tag cloud anywhere on your site.
    tags and the tag cloud are already set up to do what you want. you dont need a tag.php file.

    Thanks for your reply, boober.

    I’m currently using the “Theme tester” plugin, which (while I’m logged in) allows me to see the new theme I’m working on, but displays the old theme to visitors. Of course arguably that plugin is causing the problem, but otherwise my archive.php file is behaving properly; authors and categories display as normal, and you’d expect the tags to behave normally. I tried using a tag.php file because the tags weren’t working in the archive.

    I plan to switch to the new theme briefly this afternoon while the site is a bit quieter (it’s not quite finished yet) to see if that makes a difference, but since the archives are otherwise working normally I’m not hopeful.

    I checked to make sure that there were no pages with the page-slug “tag.” I can’t think of anything else to check.

    Just to check, I added a tag cloud at the foot of the home page on http://www.wildmind.org. This is the old theme. Same behavior – I get “nothing found” when I click on the links.

    maybe a problem with your permalinks? and how are you adding the tag cloud? are you using some sort of tag plugin? or any other plugins that may interfere?

    I’d accidentally reactivated Jerome’s Keywords when I upgraded to 2.5.1. The tag Cloud is now working perfectly.
