I need some really user-friendly instructions for setting up a 2nd site on WordPress.org. I read that I need to re-install for a 2nd site, so I did. I got the message that the download was complete, but nothing new came up on my screen. I found where it'd been saved onto my computer, but I have no idea which file/s to open, if any. Help, please!

A second WordPress installation has nothing at all to do with your first one. You have to go through the whole install process again. The fastest route is if your webhost has Fantastico or a quick-install for WordPress to use that method. You tell it the folder you want it installed in and it does all the work and emails you the URL's to see the site and where to log in.
If your host doesn't have that or for some reason you don't want to use it, you have to do an install from scratch, creating a database in the hosting control panel, putting the WP files on the server, etc. The instructions for installing WordPress are in the WP codex at codex.wordpress.org plus in a hundred tutorials and videos you can find using Google.
After trying that if you still have questions you can come back and ask them.
