Hey guys. I started learning html and css about 4 months ago to build my blog. I built it from scratch and have been running it for a month now. I just found wordpress and am trying to switch over to it for the ease of use. Now the problem is I don't understand how to modify the site without just clicking the available options. Is there any xhtml file or is it all the php files and the css files?

In the main page where the blog posts will be listed. I would like to have the top post full width across the content section then have 2 posts underneath it in 2 columns then back to 1 post. For example of what I'm talking about see http://www.gohealthyfitness.com. Thats the layout Im looking for on the left column. Anyone know where I can go to make this happen?

My wordpress site is http://www.gohealthyfitness.com/wordpress nothing done to it yet, just trying to make the layout the way I want it

If you open up the different template files that come with each theme, you can see both the php and XHTML and occasional CSS styling used to build the theme.

If you open up the Stylesheet (style.css usually), you can see how the styling is done.
