Trying to find blog after creating static home page

I’ve totally screwed up my blog trying to figure out how to access the blog after having designated a static page as the home page. I was trying to follow the directions found in Docs re: creating a static page as the home page. The first page was already created and functioning. I created the second page called Blog, it appeared in the navigation menu, but when clicked, just showed a blank page.

In messing with Settings [the instructions were not clear or I’m very dense], I’ve now lost my whole blog. Am getting Internal Server error on everything.

Is there help for me, or must I start all over?

I tried to indicate which page should be the home page and and the blog. Both “WordPress address URL” and “Blog address URL” were the same. I added “Blog” to the second, because that was the name of the page, and then I went to check on the name of the page I’d set to be the static home page and that’s when everything went south.

Now I can’t even access the Dashboard. I can log in, but that’s as far as I can go.

Probably permanently screwed, right?

And, of course, I failed to make a backup before I started messing with stuff.

Okay, I am able to get into the Dashboard and have clicked on a few links and it seems okay.

Now what?

Also, the instructions say not to leave that in the functions file. Do I remove it now, or when?

Sorry, not so fast! I had opened the Dashboard of another blog of mine so I could get the two field names correct for that post above. I haven’t tried the allstaryou.com site yet – am going now.

I do – albeit an unstyled login. What url did you use in your functions file? Your blog is currently pointing at wordpress.org!

Here’s what I see for the /wp-admin/ page, and I can’t log in. Oh, no way to show you – well, it’s a plain page with no graphic formatting, just fields.

I opened Safari [been using Firefox] so that no stored info might interfere, and I get an unformatted pinkish page at http://anallstaryou.com/

Not wordpress.org ???

Try re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.
