• Hello,

I am currently trying to edit the Polished Theme template. This is my website – http://www.gamereviews.ie

Basically what I’m trying to do, is create a seperate page called http://www.gamereviews.ie/related-websites but everytime I try to publish this, it turns the heading “Related Websites” into a category which then appears in my navigation bar at the top of the page.

As you can see down the footer of my website, I have a link to http://www.gamereviews.ie/related-websites. This is where I want to link to the page from.

Any help on how to stop the Theme auto-populating a category would be most appreciated!!

p.s. My perma link strucutre is %category%, %post%

p.p.s I tried to create a Post with no Category, but WordPress auto-selects a Category for me once I try to publish 🙁

  • Hi Rooster86,

I’m sorry if I’m a little confused. You’ve already created the Related Websites (linked in your footer). Are you trying to create a second page named Related Websites and link from the first Related Websites page to the second one?

Is this page something you want to create new posts for or just show some “static” content? The reason I ask is that a Page or Subpage may be better suited for this purpose instead of a Post.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi ChristiNi

WoW! Thanks so much for your help. If you look at my website I think I’ve figured it out. Basically there was a setting in the Theme e-panel which allows you to de-select pages/posts from becoming categories & displaying in the navigation bar. So now i have my ‘related websites’ page looking perfect. I just need some related websites to promote 🙂

One other thing if you don’t mind me asking, as you can see on my website http://www.gamereviews.ie i have a large amount of empty space between my last article & the footer. any idea which file i need to edit in order to remove the empty space?

    Many thanks

    Rooster

    Rooster86,

    It looks like the large space in the footer is where the footer widgets are displayed. You could make use of this space by adding a couple widgets to the footer or if you just want to remove the space you can edit the theme’s style.css file and look for #footer_widgets. Then edit the height (which is currently set to 300px) or completely hide it by adding display: none;

    Hope that helps!

    Hey mlbwebdesign25

That worked perfectly! Thanks very much!! Here take a look – http://www.gamereviews.ie

Now I just need to get rid of that shiny effect in the footer of my site and I’ll be happy with it. Presume it’s just a .png image or something that i need to remove from the file manager :-/

As this is a commercial theme whose template files are not freely available, we cannot really help. You need to seek support from the theme’s vendors.

@esmi – I have found the assistance thus far from other forum members to be very helpful.

Appreciate I’m not using an offical “wordpress” theme, but as i’m a beginner the advice is invaluable.

    Hi Rooseter86,

The best way to track down the HTML and CSS involved in different parts of your site is to use the Firebug extension with either Firefox or Chrome. Here’s some more information on examining and troubleshooting CSS:
